The state review process brings together representatives from the state, the oil and gas industry, and public interest stakeholders. The purpose of the review process is to improve state oil and gas regulatory programs. It allows a state to highlight its successes and evaluate its regulatory programs against a set of national guidelines.
These guidelines are reviewed and updated periodically to deal with emerging issues, reflect new information and experience, adapt to changing circumstances, and consider innovative techniques of measurement.
