The Virginia Department of Mines, Minerals, and Energy (DMME) has developed a document detailing their responses to the recommendations of the 2016 STRONGER Follow-Up Review. The response document has been added to the Virginia Follow-Up Report as a new appendix, and the updated report is available now. STRONGER Executive Director Ryan Steadley said of the response,
“This document demonstrates that Virginia is committed to a process of continuous improvement in their oil and gas regulations, and is making progress on that front. I am pleased to see that Virginia’s follow-up review has been helpful in this regard. Virginia’s actions also demonstrate that the State Review process continues to be a viable, voluntary model of open and transparent regulatory evaluation and improvement, and I encourage other states to follow Virginia’s example and continue to participate in the State Review process.”
